THE CITY CENTER

The heart of mexico City is a large, open square called the zocalo on the east side is the national palace, home of the offices of the president of Mexico, and on the north side is the impressive metropolitan cathedral

 

PASEO DE LA REFORMA

This is a long elegant avenue, where there are many embassies, banks, offices and hotels. Nearby is the zona rosa district, the center of the Mexico City's nightlife. Here there are many fine store and restaurants.

 

CHAPULTEPEC PARK

This is Mexico City's largest park. here there are modern museum such as the anthropology museum and the Rufino Tamayo Gallery. there is also a beautiful, old castle on hill, from the time of the Emperor Maximilian.

 

THE SOUTH OF THE CITY

About 10 km south of downtown Merxico City are the beautiful districts of Coyoacan and san angel, with their quiet, cobbled streets and old, colonial builds. Nearby is the modern national. Autonomous University with building covered in colodful murals. in fact, there are more than ten universities in the City.

Pasado Simple

Use: Hablar acerca de acciones y hechos del pasado.

Affirmative form: el preterito simple de los verbos regulares acaban en  ed  sujeto + verbo + complemento.

Example: Joe walked home alone last night

               We played soccer last week

 

  • Los verbos que terminan en (e) solo añaden  D: asì   live- lived
  • Los verbos terminados en consonantes mas (Y) cambian por ( IE ),  play - plaied,  study - studied
  • El pasado se emplea amenudo con los adverbios  yesterday, last week, last night, last month, last years, ago...  

Negative form.  Poner  did not y/o  didn't antes del verbo.

Formula de aplicacion: Sujeto + did not + verb + resto de la oracion

Examples: They didn't call me last night

                 Ruth didn't study last week

                 He didn't work at all last week

                 I didn't like the movie last night.

SUSTANTIVOS CONTABLES

Para describir los sustantivos contables, se utilizan los siguientes cuantificadores.

Para oracion afirmativa: There are - hay

example: There are three balloons in the room

              There are some chickens

              There are a lot of carrots.

 

Para la forma negativa: there aren't - no hay

Examples: There aren't any potatoes

                 There aren't many carrots

                  There aren't two packets of cigarattes.

 

 

Forma interrogativa: Are there?

Examples: Are there any chickens?

                Are there many chickens?

                Are there two cartoons of milk.

 

UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS

Para describir los sustantivos incontables se usan los siguientes cuantificadores:

 

Oraciòn afirmativa: There is - hay

Example: There is a lot of milk

               There is little milk

               There is some milk

 

Oraciòn negativa: There isn't (niega) - no hay

Example: There isn't much milk

                There isn't coffee in my cup

                There isn't any water in my glass

Forma interrogativa: Is there much? / how much? (cuanto?)

Example: Is there much milk?

                Is there any water in the glass?

                How much milk is there in the fridge?

 

Para recordar... para describir sustantivos incontables usamos:

A lot of, little, some - para la oraciòn afirmativa.

Much- no, any- para la oraciòn negativa.

Much, any   - para la oraciòn interrogativa

MODAL CAN  AND CAN NOT  OR CAN'T

USE: El modal can se utiliza con verbos y añade un significado especial como la mayoria de los modales. Can tiene mas de un significado.

 

Meaning - significados

Joe can speak french  ( habilidad)

Joe can leave early     ( permiso)

It can be hot here?      ( posibilidad)

 

AFFIRMATIVE FORM: Can va antes del verbo y tiene solo unha forma ( can + verb)

Example: John can swim quickly

                You can go to the movies with your friends

 

NEGATIVE FORM:  (Can+ not + verb)

Eample: Paula can't swim

              Manuela can not meet us tonight

 

WH QUESTION: (Wh + can + verb)

Example: When can you help me?
